Here is what the editorial review on amazon says about it:

The Definitive Guide to Linux Network Programming offers a clear, concise treatment of creating clients and servers under the Linux operating system. This book assumes that you know C and have experience developing code on Linux, but it provides everything else you'll need as a programmer for real-world network programming.

Whether you're a Windows developer looking to expand to Linux, or you're a proficient Linux developer looking to incorporate client-server programming into your applications, this book has a wealth of invaluable information to suit your needs.

This book covers design, implementation, debugging, and security. You'll also learn about the many kinds of socket types, sessioned versus sessionless protocols, and encryption, as well as how to build a custom protocol, how to use SSL, and how to tunnel data.

Ooma Phone System Review - Pt. 2

In a follow up to my initial review on the Ooma Phone System I've come across a few things I would like to share.

While I still very much enjoy the system and not having to pay an extra $25 a month for a home phone; I have a few minor complaints.

  1. If you don't have the premium service ($12.99/month or $99.99/year), when someone is leaving you a message you don't get to listen to it as they leave it.

You have to wait until they're though and then you can listen to it. This isn't that big of a deal, the only time it has been a factor is when I'm still in bed and someone calls I assume it wasn't anything important since it doesn't notify you when they leave a message. The only way to know you have a message is to look at the hub.

  2. When you call someone and they pick up they will hear the ooma custom sound for about the first second of the call, which kind of throws some people off.
  3. For some reason when dialing a number it takes about 3-5 seconds for it to register before it will start ringing.
Other than those issues, I still love it and would still make the choice to switch to ooma.

Let me introduce you to the last freeware version site that has many popular and useful freeware versions available.

While they do have lots of freeware, one thing they don't have is a search function, which is a real pain when sifting through for a certain app. There is one way around this. There is a link on the left that says "All LFV". Click that page and from there you can do a CTRL + F to find what you're looking for.
